The Perfect Jeans

Do you know that incredible feeling when you find the perfect pair of jeans? It is a rare and beautiful moment but when it happens, oh my gosh, true happiness!

I have been on the hunt for a pair of Levi’s for a while now with no luck, since usually they don’t fit around the waist, are too long or some other equally frustrating reason.

But I finally found them in the perfect fit! They are snug around my waist and hips and they are straight legs which I am loving right now. Admittedly I did cut them because they were a bit long and I wanted a cropped look.

The best thing about the perfect pair of jeans is that you can team them with anything but today I chose a casual black tee, lace up shoes and some cat-eye shades.

Happy Sunday!

Winter in November

In the majority of the world, arctic temperatures and icy winds are normal in November. But this is Australia people and summer should be here already!

What is there to do when faced with a day of rain and bleary cold but to enter the depths of my closet and find the thickest most woolen jumper I own. Some interesting jeans with frayed bottoms will also help in attempts to keep you toasty.

My favourite shoes right now are these snakeskin beauties from Kurt Geiger. The colour is next level and style of boot can be paired with denim, slip dresses or ribbed skirts in neutral tones. Well done Kurt, well done. On top of their versatility is there huge comfort factor, I wore them all day sauntering around the Melbourne CBD. The block heel really works wonders, giving you height without causing you pain.

Well, for my Australian friends, stay strong and believe that we will be hotter temperatures soon. And isn’t it great that this post can apply to friends in both hemispheres at the same time? Bright side.

Secret Silk Shirts

Don’t you just love it when you find hidden treasures in your Mum’s wardrobe? That’s exactly how I found this beauty of a rust silk shirt hanging innocently among my Mum’s knits and cardigans. Instant love!

What better than to style it with a flowy white eyelet skirt, perfect for a spring time day! A rust bag with gold detail will compliment this look along with these brown lace up boots which I’m currently obsessed with- very Yeezy season 3.

Well I’m off to online shop for a new pair of sunglasses, currently craving these Fendi bad boys. Summer is coming kids. Protect your eyes stylishly.

The Aquamarine Bomber

So I might have a thing for bomber jackets. Although I already own three bombers, when I saw this one online at Nasty Gal, I couldn’t resist a sneaky online Monday night purchase!

The silky fabric and detailed embroidery are enough to make me throw my credit card at my laptop screen (take my money please) but the aquamarine colour was the factor that pushed me to click to checkout, just the right combination of bold and dreamy.

Don’t forget to pair with black flares and nude stiletto lace-up point heels for maximum leg elongation.

Happy Sunday!

Maxi Skirts and Tan Mules

With summer approaching, it is now the perfect time to pull out those maxi skirts and crops that haven’t seen sweet sunshine since April. Winter and the dreary cold has felt longer than ever this year although to be fair it always feels too long. Poor winter, no one craves it like they do summer.

Pairing this midi I found in an op-shop with a black crop slightly off shoulder (all the rage currently) makes for a perfect date night outfit. Alternatively, it can be suitable for a casual raspberry Mojito on a Melbourne rooftop bar with your girls. Your choice.

Add tan mules to elongate legs and if you’re after comfortable heels, these are it. A light grey bag and grey statement necklace, both from Zara brings it all together.

Skater Chic

Monday. 6.05pm. Currently stuck in the most hectic traffic I have ever seen.

You know that little accident sign on Google Maps that’s usually “5-min delay: congestion on freeway”. Um yeah, well that’s “1 hour and 45 minute delay” right now and I’ll be getting home at 8pm. Greaaaaaaat. I think it’s also important to note that this  usually a 15 minute drive on a normal day (the pain is real).

In the time that I have been sitting here in my car there has been blue skies, then a hail storm then a rainbow and now it’s overcast. A normal day, really.

Despite this major setback on a otherwise acceptable Monday, I will push hard to remain an optimist. And if economics taught me anything, it’s that the opportunity cost of sitting in standstill traffic is writing my blog post sneakily and telling you about my weekend.

I’ve been wearing this denim jacket a ridiculous amount lately. It’s oversize so I can layer a bunch of bombers or cardigans underneath it or if the sun is out, wear it over a dress or with denim shorts for some double denim vibes.

My Nike Ultra Tennis sneakers A.K.A. Nike Hyper Whites, were a cinch to pair with this casual dress that I have owned for years now. Plus white sneakers and denim is a classic.

To top it all off, I grabbed my white Brandy Melville baseball cap and Ray Bans and headed out the door with a skateboard underneath my arm to ensure that anyone who saw me thought I was a legit skater gal.

As I rolled down the hill on my board, screaming and arms flailing about, my two ten-year old neighbours shouted out whether I was shooting a YouTube video to which I responded jokingly with “YES!”

As I ran back up the hill, they for some reason had thought I was serious and asked me for the name of my YouTube channel ensuring me that they would subscribe. Okay, no but totally flattered that I would get two views on my amateur skate video on my non-existent YouTube channel. Appreciate the support!

Now I’m off to resume the next 1 hour and 20 minutes listening to Justin Bieber pumping myself up for the concert tickets I scored today! Woo!

White Is The New Black

So I know monochrome scares some people. But fear not because I’m going to ease you into it!

The cool thing about monochrome is that it is bold and daring but also really sleek and sophisticated. People will take notice or maybe double take if you’re wearing a solid colour outfit because it is quite striking and will make you stand out from the crowd.

All white is a good start for the monochrome shy because it’s nothing too major like cobalt blue or lime green. Plus wearing all white will make you feel so #fresh!

The trick with an all-white outfit is to add a dash of colour either through shoes or accessories. Here I opted for the blue scarf since the temperature was pretty Arctic that day. But something more subtle would also work, say a necklace with an emerald pendant or khaki leather slip on sneakers.

I would suggest adding one pop of colour only, so if you are doing a coloured belt or extravagant necklace, then you should opt for neutral colour shoes and vice versa. Ultimately you want your monochrome look to be the feature and small pops of colour should only really enhance and accentuate your all-white clothes.

So there you go, now you’re ready to step into the world in all-white errrthing. Rock it girl and get ready to enjoy all eyes on you!
