Ripped jeans became popular in the 1980s, which when you think about, is really not very long ago! The hard-rock era, followed by the grunge era heavily popularized distressed denim, with rockstars during that time consistently wearing them onstage. Nowadays, they are pretty much a staple in many people’s closets. Over the years, we have become more innovative and fashionable with the way that we style them. Today I’ll be sharing my top 5 most trendy ways to wear ripped jeans!

#1 With a Crop Top or Sweater

Pairing ripped jeans with a simple crop top is such an easy and stylish look. If wearing blue jeans, I love keeping it pretty basic for the top and opting for a white or black crop. This keeps the outfit looking pretty classic and effortless. This is the outfit I have chosen today. My top is a furry, fluffy material since this will add some interest and these awesome ripped jeans from Tobi are the perfect level of distressed.

#2 With a Bodysuit

A bodysuit with a pair of high-waisted ripped jeans is a match made in heaven! I am honestly OBSESSED with this kind of look. It is such a great balance between feminine and edgy. White lace bodysuits look incredible with blue jeans because the contrast of colours is very aesthetically pleasing!

#3 With an Oversized Vintage T-Shirt

Channeling some 90s grunge vibes in a vintage tee and ripped denim is another great choice. A oversized band tee or Harley Davidson t-shirt would be amazing with either some shredded mom or skinny jeans. You can wear it loose or knotted at the front. Also an oversized jumper would be an excellent choice!

#5 With a Bandeau and Denim Jacket

Double denim anyone? This is definitely one of my favourite ways to wear ripped jeans! Throw on a crop denim jacket with a bandeau underneath and you are ready to head out the door for dinner with the girls! I love adding some white heeled boots to this look. You could also match your shoes to the colour that your bandeau may be!

    12. I agree with every one of these tips, especially the one about a crisp, white shirt. I own one to many white shirts (especially blouses) so of course this is the one I gravitate to most, but in all they are such a simple and classic item they work perfectly with adding some construction to the rips in the jeans!
